The Fascination of the Canals of Venice

One of the most exciting attractions one can think of in the world is the canals of Venice. People think of them in romantic terms as some of the more unique curios created by man to date. But how did they come into existence, and why?

Centuries ago, Italians chose to settle on a group of islands located in a lagoon. This migration occurred around the sixth century, and the town was called Venice after the Veneti people who originally lived in the area centuries before.

Venice became a major financial and cultural center before long. As it prospered, it built its architecture upon its islands and created canals as connections. Venice has around 25 miles of canals, all connected to one central channel called the Grand Canal.

For many years, there was no way to enter Venice besides through the Adriatic Sea, which connects the Grand Canal. Nowadays, there is a railroad, and one can take a train to Venice or drive and park outside of the city.

But to get around Venice, you either need to walk, bicycle, or take a gondola through a canal. One hundred seventy-seven channels flow through Venice, and Venice is the only major city in the world with no trucks or cars.

Venice does not allow large cruise ships because the canals cannot handle their girth. But some of the smaller boats are allowed for now, and if you are planning a trip to Venice soon, it might be worth asking a travel agent if cruises exist.

Besides the gondolas, the canals of Venice use taxis and water buses to help people get around. Indeed, one can swim in a channel, but there is a risk of pollution and waste, so it is not a good idea.

Bangkok

Do you love art and historical buildings? In Bangkok, you also get to see the awesome Thai Palace. Built sometime in the late 1700 this gold-plated palace has become one of Bangkok’s most popular tourist attractions. The inside of the palace is home to the longest wall painting in the world- The Romanaya.

Are you looking to spend long, fun-filled, and unforgettable nights during your vacation? Then Bangkok is just perfect for you. The city never sleeps. There will always be activities for tourists to engage in. From night walks while enjoying the vibrant night scene to partying, you could do whatever.

Another interesting fact about the nightlife is the street food. There are pretty cool spots to challenge your palate during the day. But at night, the best the city has to offer by way of food is on full display. By walking down certain tourist hotspots like Patpong Night Market or Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, you will be assailed by mouth-watering aromas that will leave you searching for one specific aroma. Searching for smells is an adventure unique to the region.

So the city of Bangkok is more fun than people give it credit for. Just prepare, have a plan or a guide, and you will enjoy all the best this awesome city has to offer.…

Paris

The French city of Paris has a reputation as the most romantic city in the world. A reputation that without seeing is difficult to believe.

The city of Paris is one of those places where just taking a walk gives you a surreal feeling. The stoned streets, blended perfectly with well-architectured buildings, make one feel they are in a classic novel. The entire layout of the city gives a cultural vibe which I believe to be responsible for its calm and romantic vibe.

Additionally, the city has a lot of incredible locations. Some of these locations are pretty old, while some are just so magnificent that it does not matter how old they may be. A few of these locations include:

  1. The Louvre Museum
  2. The Eiffel Tower
  3. The Notre Dame Cathedral
  4. The Palais Garnier
  5. The Arc de Triomphe

There are supposedly more than a hundred museums in Paris and Monuments from every era in human history. So the sights are too numerous to count in Paris.

The city has a rich food and cafe culture. As a foodie, the city of Paris will be heaven for your taste buds. The food culture makes food so affordable that you would most likely find exquisite dishes regardless of your price range. You just have to know where to look.

The city of Paris has so much passion, love, and fun to offer. You need to experience it for yourself!!…

Dubai

The Jewel of the Desert! This title is by no means an overstatement. If anything, it is an understatement. There could be lots of jewels in the desert, but there can only ever be one Dubai in the world.

The city of Dubai is so futuristic that it is mind-blowing. Even as you arrive into the city`s airspace, you see the contrast its futuristic design sets against the desert background. It is like miles and miles of brown sand suddenly sink in the middle to reveal a marvel of water, glass, and gold, all shimmering in the radiant desert sun.

The view aside, the safety of the city is one that has made it a popular tourist attraction. From ultra-rich tourists to “on a budget but ready to have fun” tourists (like me), all enjoy the safety in the city. This particular feature makes the city the ideal choice for family vacations.

The city is fully loaded with adventures. From desert safaris that allow you to work on your tan while having fun, to shopping and waterpark expeditions that just make you smile.

From the magnificent Arabian architecture to the spice and gold-filled markets, to the ultramodern structures and theme parks, the city of Dubai welcomes all tourists!!!…

Santorini is one of the more exclusive destinations you can visit when in Greece. This country has long been known for its fabulous beaches and natural elegance, and nowhere does this reputation stand truer than in Santorini. Some of the things you should look out for when visiting this beautiful destination include:

The Caldera is a deep crater that was created as a result of the eruption of Santorini’s volcano. The sea-filled crater is a feature that attracts thousands of visitors each year. There are a number of villages located along the Caldera stretch, and these stopping points offer excellent points to witness a breathtaking sunset.

With its nearly 6 million visitors each year, did you know that the grand canyon manipulates its weather? Sounds unbelievable, right? Well, it is not, as a result of its unique architecture and massive size, two relatively close locations could be extremely hot and cold respectively.

The unique structure and terrain of the Grand Canyon allow for a lot of fun outdoor activities. From hiking on the mountainside trails to bicycle rides along the South Rim and even helicopter rides, the Grand Canyon offers fun for all. The canal ride down river offers an experience unique to the Grand Canyon. The fact that the canyon has been left relatively undisturbed in its natural form, makes all these relatively ordinary experiences into pretty cool memories in the end.

The Grand Canyon has numerous tourist educational programs. So if you are looking for a destination that allows your kids to have fun while learning a thing or two, try the grand canyon.

The diverse wildlife in the canyon also makes it a destination worth visiting. There are more than 400 species of avian lifeforms. Not to mention the 91 recorded mammal species, 10 amphibians, and 48 reptile species.

Great Wall of China

Known as the longest manmade structure in the world, the Great Wall of China attracts as many as four million tourists a year. But more than its “longest wall” title, the wall is a national heritage of China as it has protected the region from various invasions across time.

The wall was built over a period of 2000 years by millions of Chinese citizens.

Before the wall, the northern nomadic tribes ravaged the Northern China border. But after the wall went up, the nomads stayed out. The walls play a major role in both Chinese as well as the history of the modern world. So while on these walls, know that you are walking where history was forged.

More than its historical value, the Great Wall of China is popular for its awesome vantage point and view. The sight from the top of the walls is simply magnificent. You get to see miles and miles of magnificent natural and cityscapes.

Another awesome part of visiting the wall is that you get to see other parts of China. There are lots of historical sites and modern wonders to experience in China. And the food, oh the food! You get to experience “Chinese food” in a place where it is just called food.

So a trip to experience the grandeur of the great walls of China is definitely worth your while.…

Venice

Is a trip to Venice worth it? Absolutely!! If for nothing else, the fact that it is the only city in the world in water makes a trip to the historic city well worth it. There might be other little towns and locations with the same “on water” architecture, but Venice is undoubtedly the most beautiful of them all.

Venice is also really popular for its exquisite cafe culture. The city is spotted with various cafes with interesting designs and trademarks. So if you’re a coffee-lover, a visit to Venice will make it worth your while (if only for this singular reason)

The architecture of the city allows for certain pleasures unique to the region. Visitors and tourists get to partake in interesting canal rides and experiences.

If you are an art lover, the city of Venice holds an even greater appeal. The city is home to the world’s largest oil-on-canvas painting, which is a painting of “paradise”. Done on the Palazzo Ducale. The city is also home to a museum that is said to hold some of the most valuable renaissance art in the world- the Gallerie dell’Accademia (Fine Arts Museum).

As for the food, Venice is an Italian city. Does more need to be said?

A trip to Venice might turn out to be all you want, but it definitely will be worth your time and expenses. …

Golden Gate Bridge

The historic bridge connects the city of San Francisco to the Californian Marin County. Spanning about 1.7 miles (almost 3km) this bridge, which was named one of the seven wonders of the modern world, took an astounding four years to complete.

The beauty and elegance of the bridge make it the most photographed bridge in the world. The Golden Gate Bridge is so iconic because, at the time of its completion, it was a mark of the progress America has made over the years. It set the precedent for suspension bridges throughout the country and even possibly the world.

Another reason this bridge is a tourist attraction is that its surrounding landscape has been designated the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This park which is made up of a collection of regions is home to other major tourist attractions. One of the most popular ones among these tourist attractions is the infamous Alcatraz prison.

The park spanning roughly 60 miles is home to approximately 3000 plant as well as animal species. This extensive natural park offers various hiking programs for tourists and visitors to enjoy. The natural outdoor air and company of the wide array of wildlife is a relief from the stress of everyday issues.…

Santorini

From flight to accommodation and feeding, an enjoyable trip to the popular Santorini cost a bit over $3000 for single individuals, about $5000 for a couple, and approximately $10,000 for a family of four. And a visit to the beautiful seaside city is worth every penny spent.

The Island of Santorini is said to have been the original home to the city of Atlantis. The whitewashed homes and exquisite beaches that surround this island give a bit of life to that particular point of view.

Additionally, Santorini is home to some of the most speculative beaches in the region. Tourists who visit Santorini do not end their trips until they have experienced for themselves the red and the black sandy beaches of the region.

And like every other island country or city, Santorini has excellent food and luxurious services. The natives in the region are usually really hospitable to tourists and are in somewhat of a hurry to display their natural heritages. From dance to food, Santorini (especially in the summer) is a perfect tourist spot.

Being an ancient city, Santorini also has heritages and structures from previous eras. Visiting these sites makes for a decent hike and intriguing adventure.

So while some articles might overhype or not do justice to Santorini, it is a tourist hotspot for a reason and you need to see why!…
